Kevin
Smith - Senior Instructor
Mr. Smith has
been an instructor with Praetorian
Services Group, LLC. and the
Colorado Institute of Bail
Enforcement since mid-2008.
He has over fifteen years of
professional experience including
service in the U.S. Army Reserves
and law enforcement.
During his law enforcement
career, Mr. Smith served in many
areas within the police department
to include the Patrol Bureau where
he served as a Field Training
Officer and a member of the Crisis
Intervention Team.
Mr. Smith also served as an
Operator on the Special Weapons and
Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team, and also
works in the Special Investigations
Unit where he worked in an
undercover capacity.
While serving
as an Operator on the S.W.A.T. Team,
Mr. Smith participated in dozens of
high-risk search warrants on persons
wanted for criminal violations on
the local, state, and federal
levels.
While working in an
undercover capacity, Mr. Smith was
able to participate in many complex
illegal narcotics investigations
working both with local and federal
law enforcement agencies.
Kevin Smith is a
certified law enforcement Firearms
Instructor, Ballistic Shield
Instructor, Taser International
Instructor, and has extensive
training in the uses of less-lethal
weapons to include: Oleoresin
Capsicum (O.C.) spray, less-lethal
munitions, and ASP baton. Mr. Smith
was an instructor at both the
department level as well as
instructed at the regional academy.
He also has extensive martial arts
training in the disciplines of Krav
Maga, American Kickboxing, and Muay
Thai kickboxing. Mr. Smith taught
police tactics to department members
and also has training in the
practical application of Pressure
Point Control Techniques (P.P.C.T.).
Mr. Smith is the
Senior Training Instructor for the
Praetorian Services Group Training
Division and is the primary
instructor on for the Arrest
Control/Defensive Tactics Course,
Less Lethal Weapons Course, Colorado
Concealed Handgun Course and the
Tactical Building Search Course.
Mr. Smith brings
practical knowledge and “real world”
experiences from the law enforcement
community. He shares this knowledge
with students to help promote a
healthy, informative, and enjoyable
learning experience.
